Journey/Badge Addressed:  STEM Mechanical Engineering

Explore simple machines, physics, and engineering as you design crazy contraptions to sort, move, and fling objects! This is an overnight Camp-In that includes a hands-on Science Lab, a hands-on Design Lab, a Junior Science Cafe, MOSI exhibit exploration, light snack, sleeping at MOSI, light breakfast, and general admission to MOSI after the program. Please be prompt to ensure a smooth check-in and participation in all the fun activities!

All scout participants will receive the MOSI 2020 Fun Patch.

The job of an engineer is to use science and technology creatively to help solve problems. In this class, you will have to figure out how to clean up an oil spill. Construct a house from popsicle sticks that can withstand category 3 hurricane force winds. Create an adhesive from milk that can withstand the mass of several heavy washers. So give yourself a “brain stretch” as you attempt to solve the many challenges that await you.

Explore the connections between predators and prey, producers and consumers, and plants and animals — through dissection, design, and discovery.  This overnight experience includes a hands-on Science Lab, a hands-on Design Lab, a Junior Science Cafe, MOSI exhibit exploration, light snack, sleeping at MOSI, light breakfast, and general admission to MOSI after the program. *This program includes one MOSI 2020 Fun Patch per scout.
