Target America is an interactive exhibit on the costs & consequences of illegal drugs.  It offers students a dynamic journey exploring the origins of drug production, international distribution of narcotics, the negative impact drugs have on communities, damaging costs to the en­vironment, physiological effects caused by drugs, and current practices in prevention and treatment.  

Explore the Florida story and learn about the history, current science of enforcement, prevention and treatment specific to our local communities. 

Florida Story Exhibit Highlights Include:

Florida Gateway

Learn about the dangerous drugs coming into Florida from South America and the Caribbean. Also, learn how the money gets laundered back out. 

Pill Mills and Grow Houses

Gain a better understanding of two of Florida’s major drug issues that occur locally.

Florida History Timeline and Places & Faces

Study the history of Florida in the drug trade and the DEA’s efforts to stop the flow, while exploring the faces of the dealers, drug lords and money launderers behind the scenes that command and control this infrastructure. 

Lost Potential and Getting Help

Discover the many lives that drugs and drug issues have taken that could have gone on to have unknown potential. Get help with a list of all primary and Florida agencies offering help to addicts, as well as support group information. 

Under Surveillance

Explore a real car seized in a drug bust and find out the technology that drug law enforcement uses to track down drug traffickers and bring them to justice, including hidden cameras and microphones. 

Recognize Those Drugs

Be taught what drugs look like and key information on each drug to help parents and kids to recognize street names. 

Exhibition hours are:

Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Target America is included in MOSI admission and is located in the Kids in Charge! Welcome Center.
