Nectar Plants for Florida Butterflies
Nectar plants are used by most butterflies as their main source of nourishment. Some nectar plants are popular with many species, while others will draw just a few types of butterflies. Provide a wide variety of nectar plants, using native species when possible, to draw the greatest number of butterflies to your garden. TIP: Some butterflies prefer plants in the shade, especially in the afternoon. Try Firebush (Hamelia patens), Carolina Wild Petunia (Ruellia caroliniensis), or Stokes’ Aster (Stokesia laevis).
