School and Youth Group Programs – 2nd Grade

MOSI offers educators content-driven field studies that are fun, interactive learning
opportunities for students. Educational programs, IMAX films, and interactive
exhibits are just some of the ways MOSI engages interest, curiosity and a sense of
fun in students. Let MOSI be an extension of your classroom in meeting Common
Core and the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in STEAM.

Up, Up, and Away

Hands-On Discovery Program
Capacity 30  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Explore the world of space travel through the eyes of an astronaut. Learn the parts of a rocket
and then blast rockets up into the air. Finish your journey with a taste of astronaut ice cream.

Kids Chemistry

Hands-On Discovery Program
Capacity 30  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Examine the states of matter – solids, liquids, and gases. Mix common household items to
explore physical and chemical changes. Play with mysterious ooze that you create. MA.B.1;

Android Inventors

Technology Program
Capacity 30  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Be the problem solvers of tomorrow! Build and code a dynamic science rover that follows your
command. Explore different ways scientists and engineers reach remote places using robots.
Investigate how sensors work with hands-on and “minds-on” experimentation. SC.P; MAFS.MD

Coleman Science Works Theater Program
Capacity 100  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Watch a MOSI scientist use the power of the elements to show off their latest and most
spectacular creations. See the scientist shoot bolts of lightning, send giant fireballs into the air,
and freeze objects instantly with incredible results. Watch them use their powers to launch items
and shrink objects to almost nothing. Reserve this engaging show and find out about the power
of science! SC.P

Starry Night

The Saunders Planetarium Show
Capacity 48  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Listen to stories and see pictures in the sky to learn all about your starry night from Mars to the
Milky Way. SC.N; SC.E

Let us come to you! Outreach programs bring MOSI to your classroom so your

Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) through hands-on activities.

MOSI In Motion

Breaking it Down

Capacity 30  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Have you ever wondered how the body receives energy from the food that you eat? Follow your
food’s fantastic voyage through the digestive process and discover just how important that
peanut butter and jelly sandwich really is! From the enzymes in saliva to the powerful acid found
in your stomach, learn how your body breaks down food and obtains nutrients through handson
experimentation and simulation. Young learners will have fun getting their hands dirty as
they mix, churn, and absorb different materials just as their bodies would. SC.N; SC.L

Potions in Motion

Capacity 30  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Take matters into your own hands and explore the world around you through chemistry! Mix,
smash, and stir ingredients to create dazzling, fizzing, and bubbling effects. Try experiments
involving density; states of matter; acids, bases, and salts; oxidation-reductions; and more. Grab
your safety goggles and set your inner mad scientist free! SC.N; SC.P

Rocky Road

Capacity 30  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Ease on down the Rocky Road and get your hands dirty studying fossils, rocks, minerals, and land
formations! Test the characteristics of minerals, recreate the layers of the earth, and more as
you dig deep into geology and discover how much our Earth rocks! SC.N; SC.E

Science Assembly Shows

MOSI Marine Gang

Interactive Stage Show
Capacity 150 per show  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Join the Captain and explore the wetlands at your school. Meet some of his friends like Sally the

Get ready for the science show of a lifetime! Watch super cool cryogenics, spectacular electrical
sparks, and rip-roaring rockets in this high energy show for your students, teachers, and parents!
Everyone will be amazed at the impressive display of science in action - some will even become
superstars as they volunteer for hair-raising experiments and silly stage antics. Discover the
concepts of heat, motion, and matter in the most memorable way when our educators make
science larger than life, right at your school. SC.P

Space Programs

Star Lab

Capacity 30 per session  | Ÿ 45 minutes
Can’t come out at night? Let MOSI bring the night sky to you! MOSI’s portable Star Lab
