GREAT ESCAPES
Join the experienced trip leaders of MOSI on an escape through Florida to explore the wonders right in our backyard. Great Escapes are ideal for adults and families who want to explore similar interests. Pre-registration is required. Register at www.campfun.org or by calling (813) 987-6000.
There will be a $2.50 convenience fee for phone reservations.
Family Space Mission
Saturday, May 10 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Take your family on the ultimate vacation:Outer Space. Enter the spacecraft through the rotating airlock to begin your adventure. Work together with other families to crew a space mission in the Verizon Challenger Learning Center. Do you have the right stuff? Children must be 8 years and up.

How To Purchase And Use A Telescope

Want to become a confident star gazer? Let our knowledgeable astronomy staff teach you how in The Saunders Planetarium. Whether you plan to buy a telescope or want to learn how to use one you already have, MOSI can help.

Dino-Bots Building
Saturday, June 21 9 a.m. - noon
Robots meet raptors in this gizmo and gadget workshop featuring mechanical creatures that mimic two-legged bipeds like T-rex or lumbering "four-leggers" like triceratops. Discover the world of animatronics while sneaking a peak behind the scenes of the DINOSAURS! exhibition at MOSI.

Fossil Fieldwork
Saturday, June 28 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Join an expedition to the Vulcan Mines to find fossil echinoids like ancient sea biscuits and other marine fossils. Wear sturdy walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Bring plastic bags to hold your fossil finds. Pack a lunch, and bring plenty of water. All participants will meet near the fossil site north of Brooksville, Florida. A map with directions will be sent with your confirmation letter. This program is designed for adults and children over 8 accompanied by an adult.

Rocket Powered Fun
Saturday, July 12 9 a.m. - noon
Build and launch your very own chemical rocket that soars high into the sky. Learn to use junk to make your own rocket designs.

Dino Camp-In Caper

7:30 p.m. - 10 a.m.
Go back in time and join MOSI for a prehistoric slumber party. Hands-on scientific experiments will
help you piece together clues and solve the caper of the dinosaur bone thief. Enjoy interactive paleontology programs in The Saunders Planetarium and Coleman Science Works Theater and take a
behind-the-scenes look at robotic dinosaurs. Camp-in includes activities, pizza dinner, cereal breakfast, and IMAX film.

Shark Teeth Trackers
Saturday, July 19 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Search the sandy coast of Venice Beach for the fossilized teeth of prehistoric sharks. Learn to identify fossils of other ancient sea creatures with the help of a MOSI guide. Wear water shoes and a bathing suit; bring a snorkel and a mask, and plastic bags to hold your fossils. Pack a lunch and bring plenty of water. Transportation provided.

Cave Exploring
Saturday, July 26 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Discover underground caverns and amazing sinkholes in the Withlacoochee State Forest. Learn about the fantastic geology of a Florida cave, and enjoy the beauty of Citrus County forests. Crawl through caverns. Look out for bats and other creatures. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothing you won't mind getting dirty. Involves walking and crawling. Bring a hat, flashlight, lunch, and plenty of water. All participants will meet near the caves north of Brooksville, Florida. Directions will be provided with your confirmation letter. This program is designed for adults and for children over 8 accompanied by an adult.
