Scout Programs at MOSI

 

Enrich your scouting experience at MOSI through our exciting hands-on science and technology workshops and overnight fun during our camp-in events.

  

Scout Workshops are a fun and exciting way to complement your badges and pins. Fees include an instructor-led workshop with all materials and MOSI admission for the entire group. Special discounts for group IMAX shows and lunches are available. Sign up for one of our scheduled programs or arrange for a private workshop or camp-in by calling 813-987-6000.

MOSI has exciting, technology and science-packed experiences for girls with a variety of interests. Through hands-on, challenging and fun activities, MOSI helps Girl Scouts working on Badges and Journeys as well as provide new and exciting opportunities to explore careers and the sciences found in everyday life. Participants are welcome to explore MOSI’s exhibits before or after programs.

  

 Operation: Girl Scout Challenge!

May 25, from 1 – 4 pm

Program Fee: $18 per scout; 1 adult free per 5 scouts

Badge: MOSI High Adventure Patch

Spend an afternoon challenging yourself on MOSI’s ropes course, working as a team to overcome obstacles on a low ropes course, and more!

 

Bubble, Pop and Fizz!

June 1, from 10am to noon

Program Fee: $12 per scout; 1 adult free per 5 scouts

Level: Brownies

Explore the different states of matter through a series of fun, silly, messy science experiments!

 

Girl Scout Camp In

Friday, May 17, 5:00pm – Saturday, May 18, 11:00am

Program Fee: $35 per scout; 1 adult free per 10 scouts

Level: Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors

Badge: Household Elf, Science of Fashion

 

Trash Fashion Show!

Calling all fashion designers and models! Spend an evening learning about how you can reduce, reuse and recycle- and turn trash into couture fashion! Transform plastic bags into tutus! Create jewelry out of old gift cards! Make a dress out of newspaper and garbage bags! Upcycle discarded items and create a unique look for the runway. Get your hair and makeup done by professional stylists, participate in a fashion shoot and then strut your stuff on the MOSI runway! The camp-in includes the Trash Fashion workshop, pizza dinner, cereal breakfast, an IMAX film and exhibit exploration time.

 

 

Private Scout Programs:
Reserve a Private Scout Workshop or Private Scout Camp-In if you cannot make one of the scheduled dates or if you are interested in a specific topic and program for your Girl Scout group. The minimum required for a private workshop is 15 scouts. 

Private Scout Camp- Ins:                                                                                                                                                                                Reserve a Private Scout Camp-In if you cannot make one of the scheduled dates or you are interested in a specific topic for your Scout group. The minimum required attendance for this type of Camp-In is 40 Scouts.
 

Registration Information:
Call 1-800-995-6674 to make reservations. Scout groups must register with a minimum of 40 Scouts at least one month prior to the Camp-In. We encourage partnering with other groups to fill a Camp-In. A single payment for the group can be made by credit card at the time of registration or in person by check at MOSI. If you must cancel the reservation, you need to do so at least 20 business days prior to the Camp-In to receive a refund. A $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund. 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 Boy Scout Programs

  

Boy Scouts develop new interests and earn badges through MOSI’s programs and badge workshops in hands-on science and technology explorations in the science lab, outdoors in our nature preserve or in our technology centers. Participants are welcome to explore MOSI’s exhibits before or after programs.

 

 

Robotics Merit Badge

May 11, from 1-4pm

Program Fee: $18 per scout; 1 adult free per 5 scouts

Build and program robotic creations and compete in high tech tournaments in MOSI’s Idea Zone.

Science Belt Loop & Pin for Cub & Webelos Scouts

May 18, 10am to noon

Program Fee: $12 per scout; 1 adult free per 5 scouts

Explore chemistry, physics, biology, and earth science in this fast paced workshop as you launch rockets, build molecule models, and more!

 

Chess Belt Loop & Pin for Cub & Webelos Scouts

May 25, 10am to noon

Program Fee: $12 per scout; 1 adult free per 5 scouts

Learn how to play chess then compete in chess tournaments online and on our life sized chess board!

 

Science Belt Loop & Pin for Cub & Webelos Scouts

May 25, 1pm to 3pm

Program Fee: $12 per scout; 1 adult free per 5 scouts

Weather Merit Badge

June 1, from 1pm-4pm

Program Fee: $18 per scout; 1 adult free per 5 scouts

Discover the science behind extreme weather conditions and learn what it takes to be a meteorologist in MOSI’s Weatherquest.
