 Idea Zone Hours:  Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Idea Zone is MOSI's new “do-it-yourself” laboratory with an open ended platform to allow students of all ages to explore, learn and have fun. Click here for a list of upcoming Idea Zone classes and programs for kids and adults.

 
 
 

Idea Zone Maker Programs

Advance your technology skills and open new possibilities through our workshops using a variety of tools in a collaborative and creative environment. Many of our Idea Zone programs will certify usage to use fabrication equipment.

 

Family Fun Maker Night - Saturday, May 10, 6 - 9 p.m.

Program fee: $7 per person - MOSI member: $6 per person

Treat your family to a hands-on night of creative explorations and building fun. Program video games, race robots on a track, make art with the laser cutter, build playful gadgets and plenty more. Experience creative play and educational experiences for all ages. Advance registration is recommended. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.  

 

 


Open Make Nights - Tuesdays from 6 – 9 p.m.

 

 

Join us for an enjoyable and constructive evening where you can discover how your ideas can come to life with digital fabrication and other technological tools. Take part in a mini workshop or network with other thinkers, inventors, and people who like to play with technology. Take part in an Idea Zone project or bring your work in progress to get help or to share.

 

Open Maker Nights are free to adult MOSI members and $7 for non-members. Fabrication materials will be available to purchase. Certification programs will be available for onsite registration.

 

Young Makers Sunday Studio. Ages 4 to 8, from noon – 4 p.m.

Parents and kids, join us every Sunday for a fun afternoon of creativity. Learn new skills and let your artistic side run wild by making something special to take home. Busy schedule? Drop by anytime between noon and 4 p.m.

Program fee: $7 per project - MOSI member: $6 per project 


 

               

Idea Zone includes a 3D printer, laser engraver, media studio, fabrication lab, simulation center and sciences lab – a full technological playground! The Idea Zone is a place where:

  • A Kindergartner can create a soccer-playing robot,
  • An elementary school student can invent their own toys,
  • A middle school student can create a video game,
  • A high school student can work on industrial design and
  • Adults can take part in the “space race” of rocketry and aerospace design.

 

 

                                    

MOSI hosts public programming inside Idea Zone on the weekends.  Some of the Idea Zone public programming activities include high-tech gaming and simulations, fashion design, robot building, and science experiments.  

 

Make your imagination a reality in MOSI’s Idea Zone in one of our weekend play shops or themed weekend events listed below.
