MOSI YES! Team
Inaugurated in 1992, the MOSI YES! (Youth Enriched by Science) Team is an intensive multi-year program that offers training opportunities and paid employment to underserved minority youth. Museum staff (part-time, full-time, and adult volunteers) serve as mentors to train YES! Team members in museum operations, science demonstrations, and public speaking. The program provides opportunities for students to become responsible, productive adults by helping them develop self-confidence, improve their communication skills, and form good work habits.
During the school year, the YES! Team serves as program demonstrators in the museum galleries and as hosts to birthday parties. Students have the opportunity to use museum resources, such as its science library, to complete homework, conduct research, and to update demonstration information.
The YES! Team received the "Volunteer of the Year" award in 1997.
